Dark Star Crystal Mines has become one of the premier destinations for Bancroft rockhound tours, offering visitors access to productive private mineral claims only minutes from Canada's largest gem and mineral show.
Find Authentic Bancroft Crystals You Collected Yourself

There's something incredibly rewarding about taking home a crystal that you personally uncovered. Instead of purchasing imported minerals that may have originated halfway around the world, you'll leave with genuine Bancroft specimens that you discovered with your own hands.

Every crystal collected at Dark Star Crystal Mines is ethically sourced directly from our private mineral claims in the Bancroft area. Your collection will have a story attached to every specimen because you were there when it came out of the ground. You were the first to lift that glassy crystal into sunlight from the rocky crevice within which it has lain for the last 1.3 billion years.

When someone asks where your beautiful apatite or titanite came from, you can proudly say, "I found it myself in Bancroft."

You Never Know What You Might Discover

One of the most exciting parts of any crystal collecting adventure is that every dig is different. Visitors regularly uncover impressive mineral specimens, and you could be the next lucky collector.
Potential finds include:
-
Large green apatite crystals
-
Beautiful feldspar crystals
-
Quartz crystal pockets
-
Rare feldspar-titanite clusters

Large collector-quality apatite specimens
Some discoveries have significant collector value, while others become treasured personal keepsakes because of the memories attached to finding them. Being situated right adjacent to the famous old Bear Lake claims you can be assured that the crystal finding geology is about the best you can expect in the Bancroft area. Museums across the world boast Bear Lake specimens from a claim within 100 yards of the claim that you will be digging. It doesn’t get any better than that.
